Model BC Friction Torque Limiters have been used in the metal converting industry, primarily on “sheet metal levelers”. Variations of the spring applied, single or multiple friction lining torque limiters have been used or quoted in many other industries. The simple mechanical design uses spring force against friction lining and drive plates to carry a specific amount of torque. If that torque is exceeded because of an overload in the power transmission system, the torque limiter will slip, protecting the drive components.
